Our Solution

Post by crow » Fri Nov 04, 2005 11:51 am

We started the upgrade path from Collab to Valut+Dragnet and after I saw this issue with Vault I really was down on the upgrade and considered staying on SOS.

After doing a bit more research I believe we found an ideal solution. The solution is to use a free product from Novell called NetDrive. NetDrive allows you to map FTP servers to the windows file system effectively giving them a drive letter.

So after NetDrive is setup to connect to your destination server you can then choose Get Latest Version and use the TO option to push the files to the mapped FTP drive.

Another benefit of this setup is that you can map multiple FTP drives effectively getting multiple web deploy destinations.

Hope this helps.

Cool. When there is some free time here, I'll give this a whirl.

MSFT FTP Virtual Directories

Post by walkingcrow@glowbox.org » Fri Nov 04, 2005 3:39 pm

Just an additional follow up.

When setting this up using MSFT's built in FTP. There is a trick you have to do to get virtual directories to show up in the listings of your ftp client (In this case NetDrive)

Review the workaround here:

We are creating virtual directories for each repository in Vault.
