Spurious 'You already have the file checked out' message

I'm using Vault client and server 3.0.7. A file appears as checked out in the admin tool, but not as checked out in the client. This means that I can't check it in or out - whenever I try to check it out in the client I get a 'You already have the file checked out' error. I could undo the check out in the admin tool, but this has happened several times now and I'd like to get to the bottom of it.

Any ideas?

Hi,

we have similar problems and I have been in contact with sourcegear but were unable to get to the bottom of this so far.

To get you up and running when it happens, you can however:

1. Close all clients
2. Delete all "CacheMember_CheckOutList" from your HD. I do it this way from the command prompt (under xp):

cd %appdata%\SourceGear\Vault_1\Client
del cachemember_checkoutlist /s

This will delete the cached checkout list (for all repositories). Next time you start vault, it will be redownloaded from the server so it is safe (works for me at least

Beta 3 is a supported Beta, I'd like to recommend taking look at upgrading the server, since piece was stabalized in Vault 3.1 Beta 3.

Good trick, you can proof test it: ask the user who experiences the check out issue to log in to Vault Client using another computer. He/she will see the files checked out as expected.

I would like to, but I am afraid of introducing new side-effects. Team leads got angry when Vault doesn't operate properly.

Just visited the KB forum. There is no release notes for 3.1 beta 3. Is it the same than beta1 ? (http://support.sourcegear.com/viewtopic.php?t=3921)
