Can the SOS client be used as a VSS client replacement?

Post by robdogg » Fri Feb 18, 2005 11:54 am

I'd like to know whether the SOS client can somehow be coerced into being a replacement for the VSS client without having the SOS server piece installed.

The problem for me is that VSS client sucks donkey nuts and the company won't install/buy SOS package. So my hope is that I can just replace the VSS client with the Sos client. Is this possible?

No, SOS Clients can only connect to SOS Servers. It's really the SOS Server that does all the work. The SOS Server behaves like a VSS client on the LAN, and communicates with the database through the VSS Automation Component.
