Hi ,
I've downloaded Source Offsite sometime back, installed it on my machine. I couldn't test the features because of some contraints. Can I install on one machine for testing? Please let us know ASAP as we are in the process of evaluating a tool that enables us to access VSS over net.
Thank you.

Hi Linda:
Sorry to trouble you again.
The error that I am repeatedly getting is
"Unable to connect to Server" I've installed SoS Client on my system, tried to access VSS server on local as well as network server.
I gave database, user ..and other relevent information on the SoS server.
When I try to restart the server, the message I am getting is
"The sourceoffsite 4 server service on local computer started and stopped. Some services stop automatically if they have no work to do, for example, the performance logs and Alert service"
Thank you.

This error indicates the SOS Server can't find the VSS Automation component that it needs to communicate with the VSS database:
You may also need to manually register the automation component:
See this forum post for details:

The solution is to install a copy of the VSS Explorer client on your SOS Server machine. It will provide the automation component.COM object with CLSID {783CD4E4-9D54-11CF-B8EE-00608CC9A71F} is either not valid or not registered.
