just purchased and installed SOS4.1 on win2000 server.
had problem starting the service previously but solved by turning off the logging according to this thread:

however, SOS hung after few hours of use, basically when client tries to access and log in, just hangs and does not prompt for username and password.
what we had to do was restart the SOS server service, and it was working again and allowing client connections. since not able to log, cannot tell what the problem is.
Please help ASAP!
