Linux SOS 4.0 Checkin failure

When trying to check in files that I have checked out, the check in fails with an "Operation failed" comment in the client.
The files have a remote (server) time in 2004, and a local (checked out on client) time of 2005.
The server log gives:

Exception in CalendarFromDateString(): Specified argument was out of the range of valid values.
Parameter name: Year, Month, and Day parameters describe an unrepresentable DateTime.

Can anybody tell me what is going wrong?
